My 2012 Garden, A Retrospective

March 26th, 2013 - posted under: The Farm » Flora

Spring has sprung! Are you sprouting yet? It’s planting season again and I don’t know about you, but I am excited. Big plans this year. BIG plans.

And since I was away last year and never got to share my very last garden on my Micro Homestead, I thought today I’d do just that. A bit of inspiration, to get your gardening motor all revved up. I hope you enjoy!

Warning: major picture overload ahead –>

April

Early spring and everything bare. // DIY markers in my freshly-seeded lettuce beds.

Supplies!

Babies budding in the front window.

May

Wee spinach!

Sugar snap peas.

Borage (it stuck through winter!)

Taters! (and there’re artichokes in there too) (also azaleas, but they died)

The first (and only) asparagus I ever grew-then-ate. At least I got one!

June

First harvest! (remember, June was all about strawberries)

Mmm, my cherries.

Lettuce harvest, all the days!

July

Thriving potatoes.

This is what happens when you let your toddler help you harvest . . . *chomp chomp*

Chamomile drying, and more of the best cup of tea I’ve ever made.

August

The only garden picture I took in August. Hey, it was rough month. Pretty artichoke flower, though.

September

Plum harvest!

Potato harvest!

October

Once again, I got tomatoes well into October. Amazing!

The very last little pieces of my 2012 harvest.

Happy spring! Did you celebrate the Vernal Equinox last week? I did, by counting any and every flower I saw in bloom – and there were many! Jasmine, wisteria, gerbera daisies, iris, rosemary, cactus flowers, bougainvillea everywhere! I could go on and on. I love this time of year! It puts me in mind for [...]

Hey guys, HAPPY FRIDAY! Do you have any big weekend plans? I do! Fundraisers for funky new art bars, meeting up with some of my very favorite big and little people, gardening with my boy, and lots and lots of sleeping in. Mmmmm. On Monday I wrote about my new favorite local band The Mutineers, [...]

On March 3rd, my baby boy turned three. THREE. And you know, I’ve always been the kind of person who’s quite happy to be just exactly where I am, in my life. I don’t sit around wishing for “the good old days”, and I’m not impatient for what’s to come. I wasn’t one of those [...]

Another Lost Weekend

Was Harley partying too hard for St Paddy’s Day? Fast asleep and snoring like a freight train . . . A good friend of mine sings a sweet, alt-country cover of the über-80′s Wall Of Voodoo jam, Lost Weekend (a spectacular song in it’s own right). It’s super catchy and it’s sort of been in [...]
