The Weekend Send-Off

March 22nd, 2013 - filed under: Furthermore » Feedback

Hey guys, HAPPY FRIDAY! Do you have any big weekend plans? I do! Fundraisers for funky new art bars, meeting up with some of my very favorite big and little people, gardening with my boy, and lots and lots of sleeping in. Mmmmm.

On Monday I wrote about my new favorite local band The Mutineers, and after seeing them last Sunday I’ve been singing their stuff all week. So, this week’s theme song is brought to you by the Mutes!

And now for one of my favorite parts of Friday . . .

Le Love List!

1. Getting started with Lifestyle Coaching!
When I decided to re-cap my whole experience at MSVA, I thought it would just be fun for everyone to read about. I never expected that it would lead to so many people actually interested in having me coach them (duh! I should have anticipated that!), and I’m just so dang excited. So yeah, it’s all happening a little faster than I’d imagined, but that’s good! No sense in sitting around. I’ve got the knowledge and the know-how, I just needed the little push and so – THANK YOU to everyone who emailed me. I am so excited to get started working one on one!

2. Daylight Savings Time.
I’m a week late but I don’t care, it needs to be said! Oh dear darling daylight savings time, thank you for warming me with your sweet after-dinner sun kisses. Thank you for keeping my baby happily playing outside instead of cooped up like a caged beast. Thank you for more time for porch-sitting, more hours for park playing, more vitamin D! Oh daylight savings time, please don’t ever leave me again!

3. Strange and unexpected small business ventures.
Sometimes you just gotta sieze it, and see what happens. Here’s to possibility!

Also! my porch .|. the return of asparagus .|. reconciliation .|. Grey’s Anatomy (why??! I am obsessed!) .|. bags of sprouts fresh from the FarMar .|. dreaming about summer garden parties, and all the fantastical plans I have! .|. getting my backyard into shape; it’s a flowers-instead-of-vegetables year .|. Harley wiggling his whole body when I come home .|. skinny jeans and big boots .|. Amberrrrrrrrr

~~~
Alright guys, now it’s your turn – let me know what you’re loving this week!
This happy little post will stay at the top of the page all weekend, so stop by any time to leave your Love List, ask a question, or offer some feedback! Or if you’re new, feel free to just introduce yourself and say ‘Oi!’! This is your community, so get involved!
Have a fantastic weekend!
    This weekend I will be doing research for RI Vegan. You see, I was asked by the founding father of Rhode Island Vegan to work the RI Vegan booth at the Providence Gay Pride weekend. We will be giving away vegan starter kits as well as educational materials on how to live a compassionate cruelty-free lifestyle. I told him I would be honored. Yesterday we met to dicuss our strategy and he has tasked me with some homework. This may not sound like fun but I love doing research, especially if it is animal rights related. :-)
    It is still really cold here in Boston so I won’t be doing any outside activities. I can’t even imagine how wonderful it must be to living under the CA sunshine, especially SB.
  • Erin U
    oooohhhh! Thank you for introducting the Mutineers! The music that speaks to my soul is always folksy, even a little blue-grass-y (made up word) and this is a great song. I’m a big Mumford&Sons fan and this is in that same genre for me. ;)
    Le Love List from Estonia:
    * Estonian Vegan Non-profit organizations meeting!
    * Making best vegan lasanga without lasanga today for my girls from organization.
    * Worldfilm festival that was held in Tartu, my home city.
    I’m loving daylight saving time, too! Also: attending an all day animal law symposium tomorrow .|. seeing the fairy garden that Nina designed and planted all on her own finally begin to sprout .|. the last of my Meyer lemon stash .|. witnessing my adorable tortie, Goblin climb a fence to get into our chicken run, plop down in a tuft of grass, and hang out with the ‘ladies’, no big deal .|. keeping up with a daily yoga practice challenge .|. picking up tickets to see TMBG to surprise the ol’ ball and chain .|. hearing my hens ba-gawk in the morning when I leave for work .|. a recent cold snap, much needed for the all of the seeds Nina and I feared we had sowed too late!
    Yes! I love le love lists. Good way to keep my Friday going. So right now I’m visiting my boyfriend- he lives in Emporia, KS. He introduced me to this little coffee shop on main street and I’m absolutely loving it while he’s at work. It’s so cute and quaint. Way to go, Emporia.
    Anyways, this week I am loving:
    -Java Cat Coffeehouse (as mentioned above)
    -The Arizona sun that made my weekend absolutely perfect.
    -The forests of eastern Kansas.
    -Harney and Sons “Paris” tea- SO good.
    -Spring break! I needed this so bad. Was losing momentum big time.
    Thanks Sayward! Have a great weekend!!!
    I have one thing that I really love this upcoming weekend: my husband will be home and not at work. Staying home all day with a newborn makes me crave some time with another adult. Even though I have been very cranky with my husband lately (not post-partum depression so much as post-partum WTF?), I actually like having him around. I should probably tell him that. ;)
  • Bianca
    Oooh, Waits’ snacky lunch from your last post looks awesome. I should eat more snacky meals. Anyway, this I love right now: 1) it’s Friday, which gives me an excuse to eat popcorn later, 2) the promise that spring is around the corner even it’s still unseasonably freezing in the South, and 3) knowing a bottle of red wine awaits me at home.
  • MathTutor
    Oh I have so many!
    1. Bluebonnets have sprung, as well as many other beautiful Texas wildflowers!
    2. I’m about to graduate with an engineering degree, and I have a job lined up. I feel so accomplished, and lucky! Hard work really does pay off!
    3. MANGO PICO DE GALLO
    4. New Orleans
    5. Eating my first beet :)
    I am such a sucker for folksy music too, it always gets me. So glad you like the Mutineers!
  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com/ Sayward Rebhal
    *clink* CHEERS!
  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com/ Sayward Rebhal
    CONGRATULATIONS! That is amazing, and such an accomplishment. Seriously, good for you. Yay!
  • Katrina Fleming
    Oh I just love Love Lists.
    *I am excited to be doing a review on tomorrow’s Our Hen House podcast. (Though admittedly nervous I’ll sound dorky. But who really likes the sound of their own voice?) I think those two women are making such a phenomenal difference in the world.
    *Knowing my asparagus patch is going to bloom soon makes my heart go pitter-pat. This is our fourth year having the patch and it will be our second year harvesting.
    *I’m downright giddy that tomorrow’s warmer weather will melt the snow that blankets my yard and all the flowering bulbs that are valiantly poking their noses above the soil.
    *I’m also giddy to pick up my two on-hold Tiny House books from the library tomorrow morning. I’ve recently become obsessed with the Tiny House movement and my dream is to sell our house, sell our possessions, and move into one of the houses made by Tumbleweed House company. I look at the pictures and my heart swells with the freedom such a choice would offer. Yes. I have a crush on a house movement.
    *Berbere popcorn. I’ll blog about this eventually. Trust me. It’s wonderful.
    So excited for your Lifestyle Coaching. It seems like a perfect fit for you!
    Love list from B.C:
    Saw the first yellow crocus’s poking up.
    Back to work today with my old carpentry crew. The tile setter got excited today about the possibility of space exploration and finding life on Jupiter’s moon Europa.
    I walked my dog past a golf course on a stormy, windy day. The only golfers out were four elderly men. One smiled at me and in a thick Scottish drawl called out “Helloo! Nice day isn’t it!?”. I laughed “Yes? But pretty blustery”. He replied “Oh No! It’s a nice day! Makes you feel alive!” That definitely made the rest of my week.
    Love your blog and that you’re posting frequently :)
  • skeptk_vegan
    Here’s the only thing I love this week : Sayward and her love for blogging, leaving me feeling especially special for being a part of the “active blogging” (since I found your blog shortly after you left) and continually giving me inspiration in the fact that yes, there ARE like-minded people out there. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.
  • panchu
    Ha ha, I sure love that pic of you and Waits! Oh boy, where do I start? I’m feeling somewhat beaten down today, and although the Seattle VegFest is going on this weekend, all I want to do is curl up on the couch and cry! Man, being a woman is rough sometimes.Ok, I’ve spent enough time compiling “le funk list” in my head… time to focus on the good stuff! Thank you:)
    *My brother! Top of the list this week, hands down! What a great dude. We don’t see each other enough, but when we do, we always have a good time.
    *Spring, oh spring! Yeah, it DID snow here in Seattle yesterday, but the calendar says it’s spring:)
    *My Diva Cup. Need I say more? Ha ha…
    *Stretching the ol lobes to 2g, baby! Woot!
    Well, I feel better already! I suppose I should try to make it to VegFest, after all!
  • Ali
    this love list community is the best, can’t beat cultivating gratitude for brightening up life. This has been a super heavy but ultimately good week for me, I’m loving:
    *being alive and having so many awesome people around me who are alive too
    *the incredible moment that happened a couple days ago where years of resentment about some really awful stuff turned into everlasting gratitude, so powerful.
    *warmer weather and flowers are coming! yes!
    I recently found your site by complete accident. I am an Older gal; recently on a mission to lose many pounds. You are such an inspiration to me for eating healthy and I have been spreading the news to family and friends. I am sure I will not be vegan; and probably not vegetarian; but very inspired with your organic and food choices. Thank you!
  • Cassie Phillips
    So here’s the deal – how does this lifestyle coaching work?! Because I am allllll the way in over here in Japan, and you think “Oh, rice and veggies, I got this!”. But then, every single time I go out, they’re sneaking pork and fish in left and right! That veggie curry? The sauce has tons of pork bits. Oh, your pasta? Thousands of fish eggs are looking back at you.
    So I’m getting very good at asking for vegan options – and there are some restaurants, but they are few and far between! that offer such delights – so have you run into this problem ever? I have some weirdo unique concerns. Can we talk about them? I miss Daiya and being able to order thai food with “no fish no egg” and whatnot.
    Mostly I’m just doing a happy dance every time you update, because I started reading you a few years ago and oh man I missed this blog hardcore. Thanks for coming back.
    Ok I caught the word “reconciliation” on your list…any more information on that?
    You know I ask because secretly I hope that you and Damian will be back together.
    How very exciting for your VLC business, but yes you should have known that people would be clamoring for an opportunity to work with you. I can’t blame any of them…heck I will probably try and get in on it to, but I can be patient if things are full at the beginning.
