Yay! It’s the weekend! And I’m really looking forward to this one – live music with friends, family beach day blast, and then Sunday is the go-cart race! Yeah, it’s gonna be a good one.

What about you? Any big plans? I love hearing what everybody’s doing across the country and around the world, so don’t be shy. Say hi!

~~~
On Wednesday I put out a call for advertisers, and today I’m super excited to announce my partnership with Vegan Cuts. Are you familiar with this company? Because they’re seriously awesome. Essentially, they offer all sorts of fantastic vegan and eco-friendly items, but in bulk quantities for reduced prices. You can score HUGE savings!
So I’ve had my eye on them for years, but what really hooked me was their monthly snack box delivery program. I finally signed up for it after moving to Santa Barbara, when I was helping my neighbor transition to a mostly-vegan diet. I thought it would be a fun way for him to sample new vegan treats each month, and of course I was dying to try it as well. And OMG you guys, it’s seriously become one of the highlights of our month. Especially for wee Waits – it’s like Christmas every time!
Waits and I put together a little video when our April box came:
So anyway, when Vegan Cuts announced their affiliate program, I was all over it. I love this company and I love what they do and I’m already a happy customer, so it’s a perfect pairing.
I hope you’ll check ‘em out! They’ve got tons of great deals on all sorts of vegan grub and eco-friendly accouterments, plus the monthly snack box delivery which makes an awesome gift for your favorite veg-curious friend. Or, you know, a gift for yourself. ‘Cause you deserve it!
And now for my favorite part of Friday, the part where we pause to look around and shout “Hey! Life is actually pretty flippin’ fantastic!”
Le Love List!
feeling better than I did last week ♥ .|. figuring out a new, much more pleasant, much less stressful bedtime routine .|. Seven not Reds .|. beach picnics at sunset .|. coming clean, being brave, facing fear .|. 90s radio on Spotify .|. Harley snuggles and Harley rubs and general Harley-dog love .|. love .|. running into very, very, VERY old friends who can tell the kind of stories about you that only a very select few can tell about you, hoooo boy! .|. nachos. refried beans > black beans .|. a long few days with Waits that were flippin’ fantastic, dang I love that kid! .|. my CSA. strawberries and tons of basil .|. doggie wrestling is the cutest .|. my new headboard! .|. home improvement; working around the house .|. when you feel hopeless and lost and loathing, and then the wind changes and your heart changes and the day changes and you spy hope, and you feel directed and driven and there, on the palm-lined sunset horizen, is maybe . . . just maybe . . . the dream. Yeah, that’s not so bad . . .
Alright guys, now it’s your turn – let me know what you’re loving this week!
  • Rachel in Veganland
    That picture of Waits is the cutest ever! This weekend I’m planning to relax, hopefully work some swimming in there some where! Here’s my love list:
    -Fresh, hot coffee with flax milk
    -DOMA’s overturn by the Supreme Court
    -my cat’s lily white toes
  • Karissa
    Don’t know exactly what it was about this weeks list, but it made me cry to read it! Your blog has been filled with so many good vibes since you came back. Today it literally brought me to tears, and I guess I’m grateful for that. Other things…
    -vegan pumpkin muffins… in June. Yes.
    -a good job with good people doing good things
    -sunshine everywhere!
    -lemonade with watermelon chunks.
  • Rachel Piotraschke
    lemonade with watermelon chunks is GENIUS!
  • Rachel Piotraschke
    hey, life IS actually pretty flippin’ fantastic!
    this week for me was a real wild back-and-forth between excitement about all the crazy fun things I have coming up in the next month, and extreme stress/anxiety/PMS-y-ness about making it all happen (oh god… HUGE relief when I realized my total panic was at least partially due to hormones and maybe my life wasn’t ACTUALLY falling apart, haha)
    I’m loving hanging out in the backyard drinking wine with my boyfriend, under the mister he put up for our dog (it is HOT here in Oklahoma, y’all!) but which we actually like better than our dog does… FINALLY figuring out how to put the mast up on my first ever very own sailboat and getting super excited to take it out next weekend… and going on an adventure to two cities I’ve never been before (Fort Worth/Dallas) this weekend!
    so glad this week was better for you, Sayward! :)
  • Rachel from The Vegan Mishmash
    Sounds like you’ve got a great weekend coming up.
    Today is my last day studying abroad in Costa Rica and tomorrow I’m leaving to return to New England (New Hampshire and Maine). My host mom is making my favorite local dish and I’m making a vegan strawberry cake with chocolate ganache. I’m sad to go, but also looking forward to a week of celebrating birthdays, the 4th, and generally being back home.
    Also very excited because I got an internship I’ve been thinking about for months and am excited to start that up asap.
    Oh, and Vegan Cuts seems pretty awesome. I haven’t tried one of their boxes for myself, but I ordered the June box for my boyfriend. He was excited about it!
  • Melissa Rixey
    I just signed up for a snack box from Vegan Cuts! Yippee! I’m just starting to go mostly vegan so this will be a great way to try new products!
  • http://www.sweetandsavoring.com/ Christy Milford
    Adorable! When Waits went over to the camera microphone and said hi, my heart just about melted. So flippin’ sweet :)
    That Vegan Cuts box does seem amazing! I would have been just as excited to receive all those goodies (olives! lip balm! bruschetta!)
    Love the last few lines on your Love List- I’m looking forward to a shift/wind change soon. This is a good challenge, because I’ve been so anxious lately it’s hard to see the good:
    ~roasted eggplant, tomato, and garlic puree (on wraps, with pasta, as a dip for fried potatoes, as pizza sauce)
    ~the sun!
    ~baby-sitting my favorite baby-turning-into-a-little-girl. i love making her laugh
    ~finding solidarity through blogging when it’s been lacking elsewhere
    ~that special kind of dance that’s only done in the driver’s seat of the car, when i’m alone
    ~6 week sociology class will be over next week!
    ~no more DOMA :)
  • Rebecca
    I love love love reading your weekend send-off every week! Although I hardly ever comment, I have been reading here for about two years and I get such good vibes just from reading your post and everyone’s comments that I look forward to it every week!
    I will share the vibes and hopefully the good mood will pass around. It’s good to share!
    * Making running a habit – it’s really helping myself and my partner through stressful times * Matcha soy lattes * peonie, cherry, rhubarb season (yes I have indulged!) * getting paid for something I love (even if its not a huge amount) * reading blogs on the iPad and discovering the joys of vegetarian ventures blog, pure green magazine, the great adventures tumblr and final getting to download a copy of chickpea magazine * new routine of getting up early and reading while sipping green tea before work * the blackbird family in the garden! I watched them build a nest all winter in a nearby tree and now they are quickly learning to fly and look less scruffy every day * the dog that tried to climb a tree while I was running * planning a much needed trip * planning to be free in nature
    I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
  • Sonja
    Congrats on teaming up with Vegancuts!
    My weekend will be something like that: Friday night relaxing with some yoga, and pampering myself with a face mask, sleeping in at my bf place/ Saturday: going to work, attending a friends’ birthday party in the evening/ Sunday: family time at my aunts birthday (of course, I made vegan brownies for them to try:-)
    Love list:
    - medieval oil
    - crossing things off my to do list
    Love list:
    Four hour Roller Derby Clinic tonight.
    Sprinkler park with my daughter. My town has at least 6 free sprinkler parks.
    Thank you for answering all of my questions this week Sayward!! That was awesome. Have you tried hard ciders? They are gluten free, I like Angry Orchard (the ginger one is my favorite!). Waits is by far the best spirited kid I’ve ever seen. He looks like so much fun.
    My Love List…
    *My kitties last surgery went SO well, and she is definitely walking better now!
    *My quinoa-veggie packed-tahini sauce dinner that I think I’m addicted to.
    *Absolutely stuffing a blender with spinach every morning in my smoothies, and drinking lemon water as a new morning routine.
    *The fact that I quit my job the 19th of July is SO very near, and how I keep getting butterflies because reality is just starting to sink in.
    *Kale.
    *Avocado.
    Hey, I get so much value from your blog. I check email, Facebook, and here. I’m glad you are monetizing what you’re bringing to the table. I’m glad you have a support system that reminds you of the importance of the art you make! And this week I’m happy about finishing some long overdue life tasks and chores.
    OOoof, this week was a tough one but here goes:
    1. Seeing all the youngsters out dancing at Pride, smiling and being free.
    2. Taking care of myself, getting enough sleep and (trying to) drink enough water.
    3. Feeling some hope and progress around my recovery and my life :)
