Harvesting carob pods for a [hopefully] upcoming project.

Yay, it’s Friday! Great glorious Friday and the dawn of another weekend. And this one is gonna be EPIC!

This evening I’ll pick Waits up from preschool, and then drive him up into the mountains, over the crest and down into the lush valley beyond, to see The Mutineers play a show at dusk on the garden lawn at Firestone Vineyards.

My favorite local band, my favorite little boy, and an evening picnic in wine country? Yeah, that’s a big fat slice of summer heaven, I think.

And then . . . and then! Starting first thing Saturday morning, Damian picks up Waits and I am OFFICIALLY on a 3-day stay-cation. Relaxing, beaching, hiking, sleeping, and maybe some creating. But definitely NO WORKING, for a full three glorious days. Oh man, it’s gonna be so good.

~~~
A few weeks back, Waits and I got the June installment of our Vegan Cuts Snack Box. Well, we had so much fun making that first unboxing video, that we decided to make another one. We were both a bit sick and raspy but we sure had a good time. Like I said, it’s always such a treat when that box shows up on the doorstep. Just brightens up the day, even when your’re coughing and wheezing!
I seriously heart Vegan Cuts and I’m so happy to be working with them (note – I pay for my own snack box every month, because I was a customer long before I partnered with them, and I adore that snack box and I’m more than happy to pay for it!). You can check out their bulk-buying blowout sales here, or their monthly snack box delivery program here, OR you can just click on that banner over there —–>
As you all know, I’ve spent the last few months working as a Vegan Lifestyle Coach and Educator, working with individuals to help them along on their path to a plant-based (or partially plant-based) life. To say that it’s been fun would be an understatement – it is the most rewarding work I’ve ever done, and such a rush. I love it!
Anyway, my clients seem to come in waves and right now I’m finishing up with a whole round of them. Which means, I’ve got lots of spots opening up!
So hey, if you’re at a place in your plant-based journey where you feel yourself teetering on an edge, or maybe you’re just curious to dip a toe, or if you wonder what the next step might look like . . . well I would love to work with you! Here’s what one of my former clients had to say about the experience:
“I loved my vegan coaching experience with Sayward. She really got the heart of the issues I was asking about – she really heard what I was struggling with. Once she identified my core concerns, she went out and got me exactly the information I was looking for. She totally nailed it. I feel so much more empowered now, with the knowledge she was able to give me.
Equally important, my work with Sayward was totally a judgement free zone. Never once did I feel belittled or criticized for not being as far along my path as others may be. Sayward responded to any question or concern I had with compassion and understanding, and then followed it up with rock-solid knowledge and education. My experience working with Sayward was so positive and I feel really lucky to have found her!”
And now for the fun stuff, the gold, the great big shiny cherry that I look forward to EVERY Friday -
Le Love List!
Waits and I built a rocket ship in the living room. then we blasted off, flew through space, and ate our breakfast picnic-style on the moon. that was a great morning. .|. sleeping in .|. this quote from my godsister: “Maybe our work here is not to get comfortable but to get free, not to become someone but to understand the one who is becoming. How free– to let myself be in the discomfort of not-knowing.” .|. learning how to be a better mother (little lesson by excruciating little lesson, haha, but it sure is nice when you have those epiphanies) .|. touching up my tresses with hand-me-down hair dye (free hair dye is the best hair dye!) .|. the Junebugs have invaded and I love watching Harley bounce around the house, hunting and snapping at them just like when he was a young buck .|. this EIGHT FOOT TALL sunflower that my son grew, I’m so proud! .|. taco night, and actually homemade Mexican in general has been seriously rocking my world this summer. tacos and nachos for the win. .|. helping to move the old preschool stuff to the new preschool site, and driving across town with eight hens in the back of my car. I was glad that I could be there to handle the chickens during the move. .|. late night phone calls that take you to unexpected places .|. Twitter. I’m finally getting into Twitter .|. but really? Instagram. I always and forever heart the Instagram. .|. Really, really, really exciting potential future projects, the kind that make your head explode as you cry “OF COURSE, THAT’S PERFECT!” Yeah, pretty stoked on that one . . .
    Oh those Waits videos make my heart melt!. Good job! I am looking to order my first vegan cuts box but its a bit more of an investment as I am living in Norway so postage is expensive. BUT it looks worth it. I’m quite tempted by the beauty box too….Do you get a kickback if I order from clicking through the ad on this page? I’d love to do it this way if so!
    Sayward, I recently found your blog through Choosing Raw, and I simply wanted to say how sweet and wonderful and helpful it is. As a fellow vegan, a lover of Tom Waits, and an Aunt to two young kids, your blog, your stories and your voice are new sources of inspiration and fun for me :)
    2. Having moments of genuine connection with my theatre students and feeling like I might actually, possibly, be a good teacher :)
    3. A new book that I am devouring :)
