What We Ate Wednesdays: Weekend Edition, Wordless Style

May 31st, 2011 - filed under: The Food » Food Styles

My dears, I’m going to be frank. I am so. busy. right now. And things, they just keep piling on. So I’m bringing this WIAW in pantomime – wordless style. Since I usually photograph my Monday menu, I thought it might be fun to give you a peek at how we eat on the weekends. This was our Saturday – me eating all raw (except coffee), Damian eating cooked vegan, and Waits eating . . . like the wild little guy that he is (plain raw asparagus? okay!) No words here, so you’ll just have to use your imaginations. Bonus to anybody who can guess what I had for dessert (the very last picture). Hint – it’s hands down my absolute favorite dessert ever!

Can you come over and cook for meeee? This food looks like its from another planet and I could not begin to guess what some of this stuff is but WOW! it looks sooo delicious! Your kiddos are so lucky to have such a great, creative woman for a momma! xo
PS – long time lurker :)

Unrelated – is that an Ergo? Did you find that you like it better than the Mei Tai? We have a sling for the first few months (I’m due in 3 weeks) but are looking into a “future carrier.”
You somehow make oatmeal look good, and I hate oatmeal ;)

All your photos are so beautiful! All the food looks amazing and I love your hair :]

I have no idea what your dessert in the last photo is, but I’m sure it’s divine! I’m going to join WIAW next week, when I finally have more free time.

    @ Yoga G33k – Hello lurker, welcome! =D

@ Erin – It’s an Ergo and I ADORE it, however we didn’t use it until after Waits was 1. I found the Mei Tai to be best (by far) for an infant – the ring sling never felt safe (this was *right* after that baby died and all those slings were recalled, so I was paranoid, but I could never get Waits’ head in a position I felt comfortable with). I used the Mei Tei from about 2 weeks on and it was my lifesaver.Around 6 months I switched to the Moby for comfort sake, and now we use the Ergo exclusively. My 2 cents!

@ Anastasia – Aw thanks, I was just thinking of doing something different with my hair.

@ Monika – YAY! I can’t wait to read your WIAW!

Mmmm, that all looks delicious, but the bowl of chia seed pudding really had my mouth watering. Oh and that vegan hoodie is the best (whether it was stolen or not!)

  • Lupita

raw tiramisu! if no such thing exists, i’ll create my own :)

I have to say, I can’t pick a favorite photograph here. They’re all fab! I love your baby’s expression in most of them and the look on your face when you are eating that tart- yum! What a great day, seriously.

  • Sam

I have to agree with Hannah, all the pictures are amazing! I can’t pick a favorite; although I do have to say that when I saw the picture of the Stella and the trader Joe’s Salsa Autentica, in the span of two milliseconds, my mind was like, “Yes!! Wait- DOUBLE YES!!” Two of my favorite things :)

I’m thinking about starting a blog to document my FarMar work experiences and my new job at Northstar Cafe (best vegan burger in Columbus and perhaps the world!) as well as my passion for any and all herbs. Yay!

    Bananas in hazelnut butter?

    <3 :) <—- wordless response!LOL

  • Julie

    Lovely pics!
It was so awesome randomly running into you guys on my visit to Portland. Seriously, Waits is even cuter in person if that’s possible! Just wish I could have introduced Wee Waits to my Miss Amelia. She was with my mom napping, but I think they would have hit it off.
It totally made my day seeing you all! :)

Thumbs up to Waits for that raw asparagus action! =) haha! Happy WIAW! <3

I am insanely jealous of that little pie! Your photographs are absolutely beautiful :)

  • natashia

banana with cinnamon and/or nut butter?

  • http://www.tabularasafitness.com Hope

You have such a beautiful life! It’s inspiring!!!

  • Nina

Great pics, aww. Waits is so adorable and I love your hoodie. Also, what camera do you use?

  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com Sayward

@ Camilla – Good eye on the chia, it’s one of my very favorites. And no, not stolen (this time), ha!

@ Lupita – Not tiramisu but man, that sounds good!

    @ Hannah & Sam – Thanks guys. =)

@ Jordan – Yes! Well, almond-macadamia butter, but close enough. Banana must be frozen, nut butter must be salty, with a side of raw coconut sugar. BEST DESSERT EVER

@ tishushu – HA! Love the wordless response.

@ Julie – Yay I’m so glad you commented. It was great meeting you, totally made my morning. I wish we’d gotten a picture. Hope you had fun in Portland!

    @ Jen L – Thanks!

@ Kate – That pie was out of this world. I get one every Saturday morning, hee hee.

@ natashia – YES! See my comment above, but you got it.

@ Hope – Aw, thanks my dear.

    @ Nina – Thanks! We use a Canon 5D with a 50mm 1.4 Prime Lens and we have a little point-and-shoot too, a Canon s90.

Hmmm I was thinking the dessert was bananas fontane? (Without all the butter)

OMYGOSH, so I am watching “Chow Down” right now and it is making me sooooo angry! 74% of subsidies go to meat and dairy? Geez, I knew that our gov. had to be more gung ho about healthy eating and through some of my own research I knew the…outlook…was bad, but that bad?

It’s just so difficult to find out the numbers that I forget about them then I find out more and it just frightens me! :(

And I have been trying to cut out dairy for some time now and it has been difficult but this gives me new motivation!

P.S. Waits gets more and more handsome! I love those little curls of his! ^.^

I’ve been lurking around here for a while now, but seriously, I just have to step out of the shadows and say that you have the cutest family ever! You inspire me so much, love your spirit–and your blog, of course, which I’m going to add to my new blogroll, if you don’t mind. Also, those raw pies look amazing! Do you know of any especially good raw pie recipes out there?

  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com Sayward

@ MathTutor – Thanks darlin’! And I’m glad you’re digging Chow Down – yes very frustrating! But very good. =)

@ Teniesha – Welcome! I’d be honored to be added to your blog roll, thank you. =)

Do you like chocolate? Because this raw pie is seriously THE BEST dessert I’ve ever had n my life. Seriously.
