Away For A Short While

June 3rd, 2011 - filed under: Furthermore » Feedback

Hi friends,

Damian, Waits, and I had to fly home for a few days to be with family. I’ll be away from the blog and most likely the entire internet for the next few days. Please forgive my lack of response to comments/emails, and the missing Weekend Send-Off this week.

Feel free to leave your Love Lists! (it makes me so happy to read them, and could use the extra lovin’ right now)

All my heart to you, my dears,

  • Annie

    La La Love:

    1. My mama! During recovery of my surgery, she brought over soup, 50 bajillion herbal teas, new comfy jammies, hugs and a whole bunch of printed out information about diet and lifestyle changes/advice regarding sorting out hormones and periods. She’s awesome!

    2. My french press/coffee plunger. I used to use a drip thing with (originally) coffee filters, and later pieces of reusable calico. Now I finally got a plunger and don’t have to use filters. Not a big deal, but I love it!

    3. The new kitten! Someone (who would give a STERN talking to) left a kitten in a box in our backyard (more than likely overnight, while it was RAINING). While contemplating why he wasn’t taken to one of the various animal shelters, or why the leavers didn’t simply knock on the door, we nursed him to health, gave him lots of loves and the appropriate tummy bug treatments, called the vet for advice/age estimate, got rid of the unholy amount of fleas that were plaguing the poor little guy’s body and decided to have him as a permanent member of the household. We named him Sir David Cattenborough and he is very very adorable.

Hugs to you and your family. Take all the time you need.

  • Minna

Yes, take all the time you need!

Stuff that I love right now:

    1) The fact that I survived a whole week without coffee! I had been sickly for the past couple of months so I decided to switch to healthier drinks and cut out coffee and alcohol. Now I’m much better and of course I rewarded myself with a nice cup of coffee :D I will become a “Sunday coffee drinker”; coffee is going to be my something special for the weekend.

    2) That my not so great exam results this term won’t bring me down but make me want to work extra hard next term and concentrate on studies instead of parties (which are so much less rewarding than good results at school).

    3) And finally: my new favourite quote which I don’t really know how to translate to English… It’s very short and it goes roughly something like this: “Don’t place happiness outside of you.” I think it’s very well put and I’ve been working on it lately, as I’ve realised that all those situations and people in your life never last. Everyone should be able to be happy whenever they want to be happy :)

So, good happy thoughts to your family!

  • Erin

Happy thoughts to you and yours!

    1) Baby hiccups. I’m 36 weeks today, and it is seriously the coolest thing ever when she gets the hiccups.
    2) Home grown herbs! Nothing beats making tabbouleh with mint and parsley from your own garden. (Still waiting for the cucumbers and tomatoes to play along. Then, almost all home grown!)
    3) As an 8th grade teacher, the countdown of days left of the school year is finally in the single digits. 9. I think the teachers might be more excited than the students.

    This week I’m lovin’:
    1. The rockin’ sunshine here.
    2. My three mile run – a huge achievement since I haven’t run more than a mile in over a year because of my bad feet and knees. Thank you five-fingers!
    3. My scoby… you’re a genius, Sayward!
    4. Ice-cream maker. The hubs made our first delicious coconut milk strawberry puree ice cream. YUM.
    5. My kitchen. I’ve been inspired to cook A LOT lately, and I’m loooovin it.
    6. My health. I’ve had tests/exams/biopsies galore these past couple of weeks, and I’m grateful that thus far all looks good.

  • Julie

    Sending happy thoughts your way!

    1. Lazy Saturday mornings, just me and the wee one reading books and playing with her toys.
2.FINALLY making a clean break from 1/2 & 1/2 in my coffee. I gradually made the shift to rice milk and I love it now! Just a couple months ago it just wasn’t cutting it, but little by little I did it. :)
3.Making baby food. I love cooking in general but it has been so much fun experimenting with mashes, purees, and yogurts. I’m just about to make another batch of coconut milk yogurt. I’m so glad Amelia is such a foodie at only 11 months old!

Ok here’s my le love list (along with extra love to you and the fam!)

    1. PANDORA omg I’ve used pandora before but have a new found love for it. I’m going to run out of hours soon and will have to pay to upgrade but it will be so so worth it. It’s like the soundtrack to my life for every mood and occasion.
    2. PINTEREST another omg. I’ve been using it to keep track of all the healthy/raw recipies I want to try, books I want to read, eco products I wish I could afford (ha), etc. It’s amazing.
    3. DOCUMENTARIES um, obsessed. Totally out of the blue. I watched King Corn, then Food, Inc., then Food Matters, then The Future of Food… I’ve gone documentary crazy and every one of them is amazing. Seriously, every person on the planet should watch these. I’ve got a few dozen more in my Netflix que waiting to be watched.
    4. LIBRARY one more love… my library. Along with my documentary obsession came a general knowledge obsession. I’ve been researching food and diets, learning about healthy foods and supplements, and getting ideas for how to change my family’s diet in a BIG way. It’s so exciting!
