The Weekend Send-Off

March 7th, 2013 - posted under: Furthermore » Feedback

Hello my dears! It’s another Friday, the eve of another awesome weekend.

Did you have a good week? This was the theme song for my first week back at real blogging (hooray!). It’s a good theme song for my life in general these days, I think. A good theme song indeed.

You know what I really missed when I wasn’t blogging? The Love Lists! Just because I choose authenticity over positivity doesn’t mean I don’t also practice gratitude. And I missed practicing with all of you. Here’s mine this week – I hope you’ll share your as well!

Le Love List!

1. Blogging!.
I really needed to take that time off, I did. But now that I’m back, and more importantly, now that I’m blogging the way I always wanted to – uncensored – it just feels so dang good! Thank you so much, all of you who have left me comments and sent me emails or just read along quietly, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your support and encouragement as I’ve begun to share myself again here. It’s so good to be back!

2. SoCal “winters”.
Temps in the 70s. Bright sun and long lazy walks. The pink jasmine blooming all over my yard and scenting the air with absolute sweetness. Mini skirts. Iced tea.

That’s my kinda winter!

3. MEETING AMANDA PALMER

So yeah, last Tuesday night, that happened. In LA, at a performance piece called Women Of Letters where she was the featured reader (amongst many wonderful women) (damn that was a great event). And I sat with my dear friend afterwards, nursing our beers as the bar emptied out, lost in conversation for a good long while. And when the beers were gone and we finally looked up, the place was cleared save for a few folks meandering around the front of the stage, and whatthefuckthat’sAmandaPalmerrightthere!

I’m still not the kind of girl who believes in divine powers or destiny or anything else of the sort, but man . . . after all that I’ve felt and all that I’ve written about her music these past few months, and then to actually meet her . . . I think amazing things are happening, is what I think. I think 2013 is gonna be something real special.

Also! fresh flowers // my growing sunglasses collection // vintage dresses // Vietnamese food with girlfriends // my Harley-dog, he gives great cuddle // gaining confidence, believing in myself, & realizing I am valuable (monetarily, I mean). // new friendships // old friendships! the best! // a cold beer on a hot Sunday afternoon // Amanda Palmer’s TED Talk which was released last week, have you seen it yet? You should!

Alright guys, now it’s your turn – please tell me what you’re loving this week!

This happy little post will stay at the top of the page all weekend, so stop by any time to leave your Love List, ask a question, or offer some feedback! Or if you’re new, please introduce yourself and say ‘Oi!’! This is your community, so get involved!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Last week was my first week back after 6 days in New York – a trip that was so intense and amazing and inspiring (and I’ll write all about it soon), but also a whole week away from my baby boy. We’d never gone more than 36 hours! I took these pictures on Tuesday, when [...]

So like, there was this one time I got real sick and had a crisis of faith and eventually discovered that woah, I really need to eat more protein than the average bear. And protein isn’t so hard to get on a vegan diet, actually. At least not as hard as people seem to think. [...]

So, well, there ya go, that’s my story of 2012. Are you still reading? I know, I know . . . wild ride. But new year, new beginnings, eh? On January 1st we took a beach walk all together, as a family. Hundreds of shark eggs washed up all over the beach. It was a really [...]

December was when everything shifted. Finally. All the turmoil and all the transition, all the heaviness of 2012, began to . . . ease. Damian and I were back in sync, share-parenting like old pros. We traded favors, and emotional support. We shared the car, and our hardships. We instituted a bi-weekly baby-free breakfast date [...]
