Oh, There’s No Place Like Home For The Holidays . . .

Oi there! It’s Friday again, how did that happen? Somehow this week totally got away from me. Amidst holidays and travel and family and general adventuring, I’ve been a busy busy Bonzai. I finally made it back to Portland laaaate late Wednesday night. After a week away the very first thing I did when I got home (after getting the baby settled of course) was fix myself a little 2am snack . . . a bowl of homemade sauerkraut and a bottle of diy kombucha. Ha, because I am a FREAK GEEK! Seriously though, my body was craving the probiotic power after all the crazy grub I’ve been ingesting. Back to basics!

Just a note – If you’ve sent me an email or asked a question on the site, I’m going to be playing catch-up very soon. I haven’t forgotten you dears!

And now the Love List, which is simply overflowing these days :
1) Ero San’s new baby boy! Congratulations friend, I am so happy for you. And on behalf of the entire Bonzai community I can say with great confidence, we are all sending mega love rays to Mexico, on the wings of a thousand baby kisses!
2) Coconut oil as body butter. Um, what. took. me. so. long!?
3) Getting my speaking assignment for Vida Vegan Con. OH YEAH GUYS, I’M SPEAKING AT VIDA VEGAN CON!

[honorable mentions = coming home to my dearest husband/absence makes the heart grow fonder, Portland tap water omg it's un-fluoridated and delicious and I'll never take it for granted again, being financially irresponsible, soy matcha frappes (no sugar!), taking a vacation from your vacation!]

Okay, now it’s your turn! Lay it on me!

As usual, the Feedback Forum will remain here at the top of the page all weekend, so if you’ve got an idea or a question or you just want to introduce yourself and say ‘Oi!’, you can stop back by any time.

Beautiful blessings carrying you into the new year!

I love reading your blog, Sayward! I’m not vegan (or even vegetarian) but I’m a food-lover, farmer’s market lover and Mom to a little guy about the same age as Waits! Your enthusiasm, energy and optimism are contagious and I wish you a blessed and happy new year.

    Love list!

    2. Being OUT of my roach infested studio and into a house practically on campus!
    3. My amazing bf and how far we’ve come together. I love spending my life with my best friend!

I have a thought! I’ve wondered, esp after your gala*darling interview, if you’d be willing to divulge a little more explicitly HOW you make money off of this! I want to know how on earth you’ve made this life for yourself where you do what you love AND you make money from it too! It seems too good to be true! But at the same time I understand if it’s too… personal? I know money can be a touchy issue with ppl, and some ppl feel it’s too private of a topic to be discussed. But I guess just know you’ve sparked my interest and I LOVE reading EVERY single post of yours! :-) My life has been enriched through your blog, and really, through your life!

@Sayward- I actually discovered using coconut oil and lotion earlier this week as well. Flippin’ amazing, right? It’s so wonderful that after all this time of looking for the perfect skin moisturizer it was hiding right underneath my nose.

    Love list:
    1. Having the chance to catch up with great friends, some who traveled great distances for the holidays, and enjoy the awesome food at FUD! http://www.eatfud.com/

@ Lenn – The coconut oil is a bit greasy but in a really unique way, it doesn’t squick me out in the same way as EVERY other greasy body butter I’ve ever used. I can put clothes on over it and they don’t get all clingy and weird. Hard to explain, but yes – it’s awesome!

@ Monika – Happy (belated – sorry!) Birthday Nina!!!

@ Kim and Mandie – Thank you, and happy new year to you too!

@ erosan – Of course! I am just so happy for you! =D

@ Minna – Yes, Happy New Year! Sounds like it’s going to be a great one for you!

@ sj – Not too personal at all. I actually do no make money off of Bonzai right now, mostly because I’m still determined not to take advertisers. I do Bonzai because I love it, and though I’m open to it becoming a source of income (that would sure help me and ultimately, really help the site grow), it’s not my primary purpose here at all. I have another job, which is more related to my degree, entirely online. So I’m mama, Bonzai blogger, and part-time employee. It’s a lot to juggle!

Hope that helps! Did you have a more specific question?
