Surprise Video! Eco-Vegan Gal Interviews Sayward + Waits About Growing Up Vegan

April 18th, 2015 - filed under: The Farm » Family

Happy Saturday, y’all! Just a quick post today, because I’m so excited to share this awesome video interview. Waits and I filmed this down in LA’s Griffith Park last summer, and I had all but forgotten about it. Such a wonderful surprise to see it go live this weekend! And I just had to share:

As usual, Waits totally steals the show.

A big thanks to Whitney for making this happen! I love sharing our family and our values, opening up about our experiences and waht we’ve learned. And of course, helping to show that vegan kids are just like any other kids. Remember – #vkidsdoittoo!

Hope you’re all having a fantastic weekend!

i love this video. of course, waits is so awesome. i think my favorite part though was you answering the questions about raising him vegan. your philosophy and how you go about it really makes sense to me. i always think about having a child and how i would handle these issues. part of me thinks i would never want to force my child to be vegan and let them try something non-vegan if someone else had it (like pizza or cupcake or something). but i know it is way too important to me and i know i’d feel immense guilt. i think your age guideline for when you won’t force him to be vegan anymore is perfect for solving that issue.

Loved this! I’m nowhere near having kids but it’s still reassuring to see and hear that other people are doing it the vegan way and not facing too many difficulties. You’re doing a fantastic job with Waits and should be very proud of him. He clearly has a huge heart.

I loved this video. It was so cool to hear Wait’s himself articulate veganism.

Ho-lee moly. I just watched this with my kids and they were so happy to see Waits and hear how he is vegan. We don’t know any other vegan kids and that was an awesome video!

We are visiting Southern California and were at Griffith Park today! We are going to Veggie Grill tomorrow and Nicholas will be having that red lemonade and Aleksa has decided on the Mac and Cheese.

Also! That post about the dentist and the supplements means I’ll be upping my game cuz we have some problems there.

    Thank you! Thank you!

“Why is it called Veggie Grill?” “Because it griwlllllls them.” God, he is so cute. This video was amazing and makes me slightly less freaked out about being a mommy someday.

    Thank you for this video.
It has helped me a lot. I agree with you in talking and talking and talking to the kid about food and veganism.
Oh! I loooooove Waits!!! He is so cute and smart and adorable!!!!!!

I really like the idea of raising children to be competent eaters. It something adults can practice as well. There is a nutritionist named Ellyn Satter and she has a wonderful philosophy on how to feed children and encourage them to eat a wider variety of foods. http://www.ellynsatterinstitute.org/

I loved this video so much. I have a two-year boy who has been vegan since conception as well, and watching this felt like taking a little peek into my future. Thanks to you and to Waits for sharing your thoughts with us!
