This book is the sum of everything that I’m passionate about, and I am so joyful and so proud to put it out into the world. This book was an absolute labor of love, and most of it was typed with one hand while my son was asleep and nursing on top of me. And truly, this book was only possible through partnership with other incredible people, people who see hope in the world like I do and who work to make it all happen. Thank you so much Josh and Michelle “Herbivore”!

About the book:

The Vegan Pregnancy Survival Guide is a fun, informative, and totally comprehensive reference manual. Leave the heavy textbooks at home! This is a “pocket guide” with quick answers to all your most pressing pregnancy questions – from straightforward nutrition information and strategies for maximizing meal plans, to tips on choosing cruelty-free antacids (by brand name) and advice on how to throw a vegan baby shower. Written in an upbeat and casual tone, reading The Vegan Pregnancy Survival Guide is like having an awesome conversation with a super-supportive and super-positive girlfriend . . . who just so happens to know a ton about vegan nutrition and pregnancy.

The only trouble I had being being vegan and pregnant was the gestational diabetes. And I couldn’t find info–such as sample meal guides–anywhere. Any chance you’ve addressed this in your book?

  • MJ in HB

Just ordered it (among many other items at Herbivore!). Thanks for putting this book out there. I just had a baby in March and am proud to say that it was a 100% vegan pregnancy and my baby is receiving a 100% vegan mylk from Mama! Looking forward to reading your book!

@ Emily – I’m not sure about the shipping, I’ll ask Herbivore today and get back to you on that.

@ Meghan – OH MY GOD! What serendipity, and congratulations, and OH MY GOD! Very happy for you, let me know if there’s anything I can do. So happy for you!

@ Dalyn Luedtke – I do address GD, but only s much as to say that it IS manageable on a vegan diet. I did speak to women who were able to remain vegan while coping with GD. However I didn’t want to get into specific detail lest it be taken as prescriptive. I think that bodies are too individual and that issues like that are better dealt with by a physician and nutritionist working closely with the mother.

I love that we have so many vegan mamas and soon-to-be mamas here! That’s so so great to see. Love you guys!

Yes. I stayed vegan for both pregnancies but it was difficult. Even more difficult was finding a doctor and nutritionist who had knowledge of BOTH GD and veganism–even here in Boulder.

  • Melisa

    Pre-ORDERED!

Exciting! I’m due around the beginning of October…that gives me a month to read what I’m guessing will be a fabulous book. Thank you :)

  • Alex

As soon as I am pregnant I’ll order it, in not too long hopefully, I just don’t want to jinx it!
Do you think I can order it from the UK?

  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com Sayward

@ Alex – Yes! It will ship overseas, though it won’t be eligible for the free shipping pre-order deal. =)

  • Christina

Just left you a message on your page introducing the book. I missed that it was available for presage already. So exciting!!! Thanks so much. :D
