A Bonzai PSA – “Babywatch 2010″

IMG_3164“Knock knock!”

It’s getting pretty close to Go-Time, guys! I am now 37 weeks and 5 days pregnant, which means I’m 5 days into officially, technically ‘term’. Most women gestate for 40 weeks but my midwives expect an earlier arrival for me. Like, ANY DAY NOW!

I do have a posting schedule all set for the next few weeks . . . but it’s probably more ambitious than it is realistic. I’ll do my best to let you know as soon as I go into labor, and also to keep you updated in the days afterwards. I know you’ll want pictures! But of course, the truth is I’ve never done this before and it’s impossible to know how available I’ll actually be. So please just bear with me, my dears.

In the case that I do just disappear one day, please think happy labor thoughts for me. And maybe send some extra love towards my son – he’ll be making his grand entrance into this world and I can only imagine that’s a pretty intense experience.

I just can’t wait to meet him!!!

lol, that’s what the midwives told me (you’re 2cm… any minute now! Riiiiight. I was 2cm for 2 1/2 weeks before The Day), but I ended up delivering at 42 weeks, the day before I was scheduled for induction (induction because the midwives would not let me go over the xmas/new years break undelivered and risk a complication taking up the already-skeleton staff during that time). Lucky my daughter decided to emerge when threatened with induction :) Best of luck to you!

Good luck with everything! Here’s to hoping for early and smooth!

Hit up LLLi.org forums for breastfeeding advice if you need it/planning on bf-ing :) Meetings are good too depending on your area, but there’s something about 2am that makes for urgent questions. Meetings have been so helpful for me and my now toddler :)

Good luck during this exciting time!

  • stephanie

don’t listen to what they [even your midwives] tell you about when you’ll go into labor … just go … and have a great time birthing that baby! your body was made for it!

  • Tenise Rae

You’re gonna be fabulous!!! I was checkin’ out your blog of weekly prego pics. You have definitely changed…..not just belly size, but your facial features even. You look more….what’s the word…mature? Mommy-esque? Whatever it is being a future mommy definitely fits you! :D
Oh and I found in the first few months of mommyhood I had MORE time on my hands than I thought I would. They just sleep soooo much when they’re new. I think it was around 6-9 months when things really start picking up and I didn’t have time to sit at the computer anymore. Hehehe.
Who knows though…every baby (and mommy) is different. I wish you the best of luck and I too can not wait for pictures….I guess I kinda have to though. :D

Enjoy every last minute with your hubby, don’t be surprised or upset if you go full term or even late, and walk all you can. :-) Have loads of fun. Can’t wait to hear all about him.

I have nothing coherent to say besides AHHHH! I’m so excited for you! I hope everything goes smoothly!

  • Minna

I, too am excited :) And will think the happiest, most positive labor thoughts I possibly can! :D

It’s gonna be a nice challenge for you, trying to find the time for Bonzai! Although he’s probably going to just sleep and eat for the first months, you’re gonna be busy with watching him sleep (:

PS! Don’t worry about letting us know, just take it easy during your labor. :D

Greetings from Melbourne! (I remember once complaining about how Australians don’t know anything about veganism and there’s no diversity here.. but here’s my proof. Melbourne rocks!)

  • Annelise

Woohoo! You’ve got two people in New Hampshire sending happy baby thoughts your way. Good luck!

  • Sandi Gulin

THANK YOU! You guys are so great and so supportive, it means so much to me. And I just love knowing that he will have an amazing group of people, all over the world, cheering him on as he enters the world. That is just the most incredible feeling. So, thank you, to all of you. =)

  • Richard

Good luck!! wow its passsed so quickly since you posted you were pregnant :)

  • Carrie

You are such a gorgeous pregnant babe and you will be a marvelous mommy. I too went 42 weeks despite midwife predictions and those last weeks are looooong but for me they were incredibly productive – it felt like “extra” time. Whenever your little guy makes an appearance, I hope you have a beautiful birth!
