Sunflowers in January (Oh how I ♥ CA).

Is this overly ambitious? Perhaps, yes. Maybe totally. But there it is. If I have one “resolution”for 2017, it’s that I’m hoping to make photography a much bigger part of my life again. And in accordance with that, I’m intending to do one of these posts every single Sunday for the entire year. So let’s do it!

Here’s what the first week of 2017 has looked like:

Hercules, King of the Laundry Pile.

There is nothing quite so delightful to me as a really, really badass salad bar.

Plant blood.

Rainy days don’t stop us from playing outside. Kinda makes me nostalgic for Portland, actually. ♥

Beautiful baby cabbage.

Moody skies and dry river beds with a few fellow nature-loving friends.

Wild sage! Foraged, and now hanging to dry in my kitchen. Homemade smudges, coming soon!

Bowling! (I love the one little finger, such anticipation.)

And of course, I’ve always loved the shoes.

And now, it’s time for the one, the only, Le Love List!

New art on my walls. // Grapefruits in my CSA box and Meyer lemons on my tree. I love winter citrus! // Putting together really complicated Lego sets. // Facial mists. // Homegrown tea, especially lemon balm + bee balm + chamomile. // This Spicy Cilantro Peanut Sauce, but made with almond butter. // Twin Peaks. // The fact that Waits is old enough to really get into board games. // Playing Sorry with Waits and laughing and laughing. // Making breakfast and listening to Waits and Jeremy engaged in an epic game of Battleship. // Mid-century lighting fixtures. // Jeremy and I have been doing a lot of home improvement/upgrading, and we’ve settled on a general decorating scheme of “Mid Century Witch,” and I think it’s just so peachy keen, jelly bean. // Baked sweet potatoes. // RAIN. // Long walks and talks with my honey. // A quick 15 minute thunder and lighting deluge that had all of our customers at The Wine Bar up at the windows and out on the patio, watching in awe. Sometimes it’s really special to share moments like that with strangers. // Jeremy and I practicing our Spanish every day (we use the Duolingo app). // Feeling settled. Feeling renewed. Making lists and checking them off. Planning and dreaming and scheming and DOING. It’s the new year, I’m free from grad school, and everything is wide open. It’s amazing!

Alright guys, now it’s your turn! I really love reading your own Le Love Lists, so please leave them down in the comments below. What are the little things in your life that make you smile these days?

Happy Sunday, I hope you have a most wonderful week!

My husband’s birthday, broccoli in my take-out, riding my bicycle, Netflix binges, seeing my indoor herb garden has grown, and finally buying a cat toy my cat actually plays with.

Lovely! Thank you so much for sharing, Laurie. ♥

My hubby and his support while I work on my masters. Writing a solid base that I finally feel I can work off of to get my thesis going. Getting things organized and ready for the start of the semester. Having space where I can relax and be myself. TEA, lots and lots of tea. :)

That’s a great resolution, you have an artists eye when it comes to photography and capturing unique moments! I can imagine with the drought in Cali, any rain is a celebration! <3 list – books books books and the soft fuzzy synthetic wolf print blanket my partner gave me to bury myself under books books books ;)

  • Bianca Phillips

I love posts like these, so I’m happy to hear they’ll be continuing! And wild sage smudge sticks!!! Yay! That is awesome. Also jealous of your sunflower right now. It’s unusually cold down South right now.

  • Rebecca Carnes

Thanks so much for the love list, Becca! And ooh, I heard about the Fosters a few years ago and wanted to watch but back then it wasn’t on Netflix. So awesome to know it’s there now, and I’ve just run through the last of Criminal Minds and Scandal and need a new binge! =D

Bianca email me or FB message me your home address and I’ll mail you a wild California smudge! ♥

Aw, thank you Lysette. I’m always so self-critical of my photography, so thanks for saying so. And thank you thank you for the Love List! That wolf print blankie sounds perrrrrfect. =)

Yay Courtney, congrats on getting that solid foundation for your thesis! That must feel so amazing and settling. I’m glad you have a supportive partner, too. Here’s to kicking off 2017 right! (and to lots of TEA!) ;-)

  • Rebecca Carnes

Whenever you want to practice your Spanish, aquí estoy! I like a lot your pictures also, so great news they will be coming often! (I’ll leave the gratitude list for another day, though…).

There is always Bones…I think it would appeal to your science mind. It got tiresome by the later seasons, but rebounded and season 11 actually was pretty funny.

you are so precious! I love your love lists!
