Hellooooooo summer! Do you feel it? It’s summertime, in every sense of the word! It’s warm and still and slow and open. And happy. So much happy!

I hope that wherever you are, you’re feeling it too (and for you southern hemisphere folks, I hope you’re enjoying deep winter and all the reflection, introspection, and quiet that it brings).

I feel like it’s been ages since I’ve done one of these posts, and I’ve got lotsa lotsa photos to share. And lotsa love for Le Love List, too. So let’s dive in! Here’s what life has been looking like lately:

Sayward and Waits

Oh, this little person!

Waits laughter
The best laugh. And also, love this shirt from The Seed. You will change the world little boy. You will.

homegrown basilhomemade pesto

Homegrown basil –> homemade pesto.

Taco Tuesday kiddos
Taco Tuesday with soooo many friends.

popcorn with movie night
And Sunday Night Movie, chillaxin’ with vegan buttery popcorn.

simple snacks
The simplest snacks are the bestest snacks.

Still Jeremy and Sayward
Jeremy and I worked a Father’s Day pop-up at a local winery, for Still. We clean up pretty nice, eh?

my little jedi
Sometimes in the middle of sword fighting, he pauses to sit down and meditate. Because Jedi.

And now, it’s been way too long and I’m so very excited, to share with you the one, the only, Le Love List!

MARRIAGE EQUALITY!!! Oh happy day, thank you thank you SCOTUS for doing the right thing and honoring LOVE and EQUALITY. Very proud to be an American, today. // Homegrown food. // Iced infusions made with garden nettle and mint. // Waits: “Mommyyyyy where’s my chia??” Me: “Oh sorry, I got distracted, I’m just adding the jam and berries” Waits: “And may you also put a lot of love in it?” // Keeping on top of the cleaning. // Heart to hearts. // The beach. // The mountains. // Vernal pools. // Really good books that make you deprioritize everything else. // Waits, from the backseat: “I’m Periscoping back here. With my mango. My mango is Periscoping you guys. … Say hi!” // Baking muffins with my best little kitchen helper. // My garden! // SUMMER. I always forget how amazing summer feels, even in this beautiful place I live that’s practically perfect all year round. But SUMMER! There’s something so special about this season, it just makes me inexplicably happy. Ya dig? ♥ ♥ ♥ //

Alright y’all, now it’s your turn! please leave your own Love Lists in the comments below, so all of us can share in the gratitude and joy. It would mean so much to me, so please — bombard me with your Love Lists!!

I hope you have the most warmest, most summeriest, most wonderful weekend!

Summer just breeds love and peace to me. It kind of feels like it’s magic worked on the Supreme Court today. What a fabulous outcome! Justice Kennedy’s words were moving. Happy weekend to all! <3

    My Le Love List:
Happy couples of ANY kind, love, hot days and warm nights, watching my hubby and daughter engaged in their bonding rituals without them knowing (So sweet that I fall in love with them both all over again), alone time, great books that make the outside world disappear, MANGOES!, having a room in my house dedicated as a yoga studio (totally awesome). Life is pretty darn good right now.

  • Sonja

  • Rachel in Veganland

I’m loving summer too! It’s such a reflective and introspective time for me, these hot months filled with time out of doors and iced herbal teas. YES, this week definitely deserves a love list!

SCOTUS! Yes. This. Can’t stop smiling about it. // my new vegan Vans kicks. Black canvas high top bootsy sneakery things. Love. // Making a point to stop and nourish my body this week. This has meant eating some foods I don’t normally eat and trying to rest, restore, and take care of myself. // Miami. // the vacation I can’t wait to have with my family in just 2 short weeks!!!

  • Katie

Justice Kennedy’s words make me tear up every time I read them! It is SO ordered!!

  • Katie

Tell me about this pesto! What recipe do you use? I have tons of basil and I’m dying to turn it into some pesto.

  • Olgui

    Hi you all! :-D
    Yes! Wellcome summer!!!
And congratulations to all Americans for marriage equality!!! Oh yes! I’m very happy for this achievement!! It was time!!!
    Le Love List:
My daughter, I love her infinitely and this fills me with happines!. Plus, she is turning 3 the fifth of july! / Spending evenings talking with my husband or friends on our terrace and enjoying the gentle breeze and the earliest stars / Gardening projects! Nature and the beach

  • Kristin

    Me too!

  • Sayward Rebhal

LOVE this quote! “It is so ordered” EFF YESSSS. ♥

  • Sayward Rebhal

Well look who’s talking, pretty lady!

Also, I don’t know why, but the first thing on your le love list really struck me. It’s so the mark of summer (at least here in coastal SB) to be able to put on shorts *in the morning* – like THAT’S when you know that summer is here! Not like, it warms up in the afternoon, but that you wake up and it’s already warm.

Today was actually the first day I did that! (but I am notoriously, perpetually cold)

Hope you had a fantastic weekend Caitlin!

  • Sayward Rebhal

YES!!! Go SCOTUS (for once, oi)

Love your Love List and thank you so much for sharing. I always love hearing the way you talk about your little family – it is so clear that your heart is so firmly rooted there. ♥

  • Sayward Rebhal

Thank you Sonja! And yes, go Ireland! We are so happy to join you!!

Have a blast in New York, yahoo!

  • Sayward Rebhal

Yay for Vans! It’s almost all Jeremy wears these days. SO good! And yay for vacation time – lawd knows you deserve it, lady. Hope you had a great weekend!

  • Sayward Rebhal

Okay, you inspired me to finally measure and write down my recipe! I’ll be posting the formal recipe on Wednesday! Thanks for the motivation. =)

  • Sayward Rebhal

Thank you Olgui on the congratulations! We are pretty dang excited here — yes it was time!!

Love your Love List, so full of joy. Thank you for sharing!

  • Lisa B.

“And may you also put a lot of love in it?” — I just felt my grinch heart grow x5.

Summer is HOT in my neck of the woods, so right now I’m eternally grateful for: fans + essential oil mists = poor man’s AC; virgin mojitos; tacos, tacos, always with the tacos; my little kitty companion, who reminds me to take some time in the shade and chill the fuck out; and all of the love this week. SCOTUS got it right. Twice! In one week! Proud to be your northern cousin.

p.s. I noticed your poor Harley has encountered some health difficulties. As someone who’s had to bring her kitty into the vet twice this week, I’m with you. Sending tons of positive vibes your way!

Love your pictures, love that Harley is back home, and so much love for Justice Kennedy’s majority opinion on marriage equality!!!!!!!!!!

    Belated LLL:
a summer so hot it actually feels like summer! we had triple digit temps several times the past two weeks, and it was GLORIOUS // a long weekend + a week off from summer school // double-feature movie nights with Nina // cake for breakfast // turkey snuggles // going overboard on ThredUp // Nina throwing out one-liners from Big Trouble in Little China like a champ // watching Nina decide what it means to be vegan – on her terms – and allowing her to own this decision instead of interjecting and redirecting and interfering (although overarching persuasive behavior modeling is definitely allowed) // cutting things loose that weight me down // old school horror films // nail polish in every shade of blue // digging potatoes with my hands // binge-streaming Gary Clark Jr. // my awesome cooking class partner, and all of the vegan outreach we have planned!!!!
