Oh, vegan cheese. Vegan cheese! How bad you used to be . . . and now, how very far you’ve come!

It feels like every year vegan cheese just gets better and better, with more innovation, more creativity, and more variety. But despite the epic advancements made in meltiness, stretchiness, and salty savory deliciousness, there’s still one thing that’s been sorely missing from the vegan cheese scene.

Because aside from high-priced or homemade cultured nut cheeses, we’ve pretty much had to live without a cheese that could be eaten cold, straight from the package. Like, a fruit or crackers cheese. Like . . . something sharp and creamy to eat with baguette. Or a tangy provolone to pair with crisp, sweet apples. Simple. Easy.

You know what I’m talking about. That delightful experience of slicing cheese straight from the block, bit by bit . . . best when done with friends. And wine. I mean, amiright??

And that’s what’s been missing from our vegan cheese scene! Well, until now.

(There is some wind noise going on here, and I apologize for that. I’m still getting the hang of this whole video thing, and there’s a learning curve. I hope you enjoy it despite the background wind!)

Quick video recap –> THIS STUFF IS FANTASTIC!

There are four flavors in the new line: American, Provolone, Mozzarella, and Garden Herb. And honestly? *Creamy* was the word of the day when we tasted these cheeses. Like, we all just couldn’t believe how amazingly fantastic the texture was! I’ve never tasted a vegan cheese that was so delicious and delightful to eat without heating.

But also, in case you’re wondering how it melts . . .

follow your heart vegan cheese lasagna

KAPOW!

Vegan 4-cheese lasagna. Waits ate 2 giant platefuls of this. Big hit, haha. Big hit.

So the new line of Follow Your Heart vegan cheeses should be hitting the shelves of Whole Foods and health food stores nation-wide, like now. Keep an eye out for this stuff!

OH AND ALSO! The awesome folks at Follow Your Heart are giving away THE ENTIRE LINE OF CHEESES to one lucky Bonzai reader! All you have to do to enter is answer this question in the comments below:

What are you dying to make with this new vegan cheese???

And as always, your friendly reminder – I think “like-gating” / “fan-gating” is weird and insincere, and I’ll never make you guys do it.

That being said, the truth is that social media stats are pretty important these days, in blogging as well as in business. So no, I’m not going to require you to “like” me all over the Internet just to enter this giveaway. BUT, if you do like my blog and enjoy the work I do here, then liking my Facebook page, or following me on Instagram or on Twitter, or subscribing to my Youtube channel, is a great, easy way to help me out. Those numbers really do count for something.

But no coercion. ALL you have to do to enter to win this WHOLE line of vegan cheese, is just leave a comment here, on this post, answering that question above. That’s it!

This giveaway will end on Saturday 25 April at midnight PST. I’ll contact the winner the next day.

Congratulations to Linda Fritz-Murphy, who said:

“First, cubed with crackers and vegan red wine, on the patio, with a friend. Then, creative quesadilla time – mushrooms, greens, cranberries and provolone on a whole wheat tortilla shell…thanks for this opportunity!”

Yay, look for an email from me!

  • NancyE

I would like to experiment with fondue..

  • Benjamin Holmes

I want to make breaded fried cheese sticks! Delicious

  • Katie!

I make pizzas and tacos at home on the regular and usually I just don’t even put any cheese on either, because it always seems like the sort of synthetic fake-cheese flavor overpowers everything else, so if I could re-cheese my pizza and taco game, that would just be bonkers, a whole new world. Gonna have to try this stuff out.

  • https://www.fakingood.com Casey

I actually made a fabulous Vegan Lasagna last night with it! I love the new cheeses, cannot wait to make some pizza though!

  • marybebu

Mmmm, cheese & crackers with some great olives & grapes. Cannot wait to try these. Looks like trek to Whole Foods is in my future!

  • Erin Bricker

I am dying to try all of these to make my home made chicken and cheese enchiladas! (Which I made last night! <3 )

  • KatieKaboo

I’ve actually never had a vegan quesadilla that wasn’t held together by something like hummus. I’d love to try that, as I already love Follow Your Heart best for Pizzas. :) OH, and that Garden Herb flavor NEEDS to be on a panini in my mouth, like, immediately!

  • 1froglegs

I would like to try them in a grilled cheese sandwich. That is probably the purest way to eat it and taste the difference other than eating it by itself. asotv@aol.com

  • Gretchen Keller

I want to melt it all over my baked black bean and spinach enchiladas!!! Yumz

  • Elisabeth

I would like to make enchiladas with this cheese!

  • Jennifer Wolve

Nachos, tacos, Eggplant Parm, grilled cheese sandwiches, and, as suggested, I’d eat it with some nice multi-seed crackers, some fruit, and a good bottle of wine…that all sounds so amazing right now!! (edit for spelling & to add eggplant)

  • Cara

I’m looking forward to trying these with a slice of pear or apple, to see how they compare to Vegusto (absolutely delicious just by itself, not necessarily cooked)!

PS I boycott FB, Twitter & Instagram or I’d be happy to help you out.

  • Denise

I would love a grocery store alternative to ordering artisan nut cheeses from far away. I love to do meals picnic style – vegan cheese, some slices of tofurky, olives, hunks of baguette.

  • jill

Macaroni and cheese, please! Or baked ziti, or grilled cheese, or on beans and rice…or maybe all of these.

  • Sarah Cotter

nom nom nom! would love to win

  • http://lightweighteats.com/ Michaela@The Lightweight Eats

What I would give for some cheese in my burritos. I take mine with black beans and cabbage slaw, maybe some pickled red onions.. creamy cheese would balance the crunchy, earth, tangy stuff I’ve already got.

  • http://fandomania.com/ Celeste

I would make all the grilled cheese sandwiches!

  • Theresa

Mmmmm antipasto plate for the spring!

  • Miet V

I would love to try it with just some bread, because like you said, I have not found another vegan cheese that’s good just plain. Thanks for the review, I’m definitely going to be looking for this!

  • VeggieNextDoor

    Cheesy Enchiladas!!!

  • http://www.leavesofkale.com Britt

Um, everything? ;) Seriously though, I was lucky enough to sample some at the NYC Veg Food Fest and I think the mozzarella would probably make killer mozzarella sticks!

  • Meredith Hopkins

I would probably make a vegan grilled cheese sandwich for my son :)

  • Caitlin Browder

I would love to try this with some nice crunchy crackers and wine! Also that lasagna looks amazeballs. Vegan cheese on all the things, plz.

  • Laura

    Yumm!!

  • Elena Hack

I would love to try the provolone on a fat, juicy beet burger with red onion and tomato. Barbeque season is nearing in the PNW, hello!

  • Francene Kilichowski

  • Sonja Hilton

quesadilla, lasagna or grilled cheese… cant decide

  • Melissa Shilale

Grilled freeeeeaking cheese that isn’t a drippy mess <3

  • http://www.one-sonic-bite.com/ Jennifer

Pizza! I know that might sound lame but a good old fashion cheese pizza with nice melted cheese is near and dear to my New Jersey heart! Then I would say lasagna or other cheesey baked pasta dishes are second in my to make list.

  • Sarah Haldeman

Enchiladas!! Tex-mexie, gooey, vegan-cheesy enchiladas. Noms.

  • jenofur

I’d either eat it as is with crackers or make a creamy mac and cheese!

  • Blake Martin

I have been missing the pleasure of cold cheese. So I’m thinking some wine, a good, crusty baguette, and some sliced cheese is all I need after a crazy first year in my PhD program.

  • kate

on crackers. although that lasagna is looking pretty amazing right now.

  • http://howtofeedawookie.blogspot.com/ WookieWifey

I’d like to try it on black bean tacos. I’m VERY into cheese and extremely skeptical of vegan cheese, lol.

  • Karina

what am I dying to make? Hmm lets see the lasagna looks really good, and grilled cheese, oh and quesidillas! :)

  • Melissa K

a cheese plate, a cheese sandwich, mac n cheese… all of the cheese things.

  • jenn

I like vegan cheese for snacking on before/while i’m making dinner so that’s how I would consume it but for cooking I would definitely use it for some veggie enchiladas.

  • Joleanna Ann

I am dying to host a vegan wine and cheese tasting! Nothing fancy…it just might be a picnic style…or just eat vegan cheese in my pajamas…by myself…but hey, I will still call it a party!

  • melissa allen

Oh how I miss cold cheese and crackers! I’ve not found a vegan cheese yet that performs well straight out of the fridge. I’ve heard murmurings of these new cheeses, I’d be excited to try them!

  • Stacie Gray

Oh my gosh, honestly, I would love to win this giveaway to just eat cheese and crackers again. I would pair with wine (because obviously!) and take my husband and dogs out for an impromptu picnic in the mountains with some yummy fruit!

  • Sara MM

I’m hitting up Whole Foods tomorrow and need to keep an eye out for this. My daughter votes for eating it straight up from the fridge, my husband votes for homemade pizza and I vote for gooey messy delicious bubbling cheese-smothered enchiladas with a side of equally gooey cheesy nachos.

  • lisa

Wow….curiouser and curiouser! I am thinking a few things…sliced with fruit/crackers with a nice pinot..melted over vegan meatballs with a great cab…or melted over a toasted avocado open faced sandwich with tomatoes, onions and sprouts and a zin! Oh wait…. on PIZZA!!!! Boom!

  • Rachyl Rowden

I am so excited about this! THANK YOU follow your heart! I would give almost anything to make some yummy cheese enchiladas with this cheese, with a side of cheese and crackers!!!! Oh how I love you and miss you!

I’m so excited about this new cheese! I tend to use daiya for everything and I’m excited about the change. I’d like to make lasagna (would make dinner during work week easier) and also quesadillas! Love the video too!
