Hello weekend! You are beautiful and fantastic and warm and sunny and oh, how I love you!!! Lately my weekends have been all filled up with Waits, and that’s been making them extra special.

These are the beach days of summer, the beach days I always dreamed of having once I became a mother. My child is olive-skinned with sun-streak locks, little brown body and blond head chasing the waveline. My child is wide-grinning with sandy lashes, digging and splashing and chasing beach flies. My child is throwing me the frisbee, stealing my sunglasses and smearing on sunscreen with such determination. My child is so beautiful, my little beach-baby child.

♥ ♥ ♥

~~~
So last week I shared a short video of Waits and I unpacking our Vegan Cuts snack box. I had a lot of fun making it, and after a few recent conversations that have catapulted my inspiration into overdrive, I’ve decided that it’s damn time I hop on the video bandwagon.
The thing is, there’s so many directions I could go! So I thought I’d ask YOU. What kind of videos would YOU like to see from me? Recipes? Product reviews? Tutorials? (what kind?) More personal stuff? (like what?)
I’d love your ideas and suggestions! Thanks guys!
~~~

And now for my favorite! And now for the part of the week when we all get together and GUSH about goodness. ‘Cause man, ain’t there a lot of goodness? My goodness!

Le Love List!

vegan pizza delivery .|. helping out friends .|. my godparents, for so many reasons .|. musical interludes – no wait, those are just sort of disruptive .|. snuggles with my kid .|. Pandora .|. conversations on the porch are the most important conversations .|. Macklemore .|. the go cart race – um, WE WON!!! .|. “off by a few houses” .|. sharing the new things I love with the old things I love .|. fireworks! – so pretty .|. coffee. the coffee you have with amazing companions. the kind of coffee you have that leaves you jittery but not because of the caffeine – no, because of the conversation that left you breathless and inspired and dreaming to the next great expression . . .

Alright guys, now it’s your turn – let me know what you’re loving this week!

Have the most amazing weekend!

    It’s so funny that you mention wanting to do videos now because that’s exactly what I’ve been thinking about too. Anyways, I think the how-to and DIY posts you do would make great videos. So would your cocktail series.

    What a wonderful weekend at the beach. I’m definitely going to have to make it a priority to swim this summer.

  • Shango

    I’d like to see some process videos of when you make beverages or ferment something. I have found those with lots of practice have found great workflow solutions and smart tools so everything is less messy. The first time I went to my friend’s house who has made kombucha for 20years, I was blown away by just what I learned about why her strainers were better than mine. I think I could learn alot by seeing your tools for making bevs and spreads and ferments and such.

  • Greta

    I totally agree! :)

    -Potatoes, in all their forms
    -Being able to run further and further
    -Days off work that I finally let myself have
    -Encouragement, inspiration and positivity
    -Oil paintings of my favorite place on earth

  • Nikki @ Eat To The Beet

    The beach looks absolutely dreamy. I especially love the coffee talk on your loves list. Few things are better than an inspiring conversation with a friend. Have a great weekend.

  • http://windycityvegan.wordpress.com/ Monika {windycityvegan}

    I agree with Rachel – DIY and cocktail posts would make great video fodder!

  • http://windycityvegan.wordpress.com/ Monika {windycityvegan}

    Yes – fermentation video tutorials would be fantastic!

    Love your love list – and hurray for go cart races and beach babies!

    We’re finishing up our third week of camping and visiting family and friends and soaking up the sun and sand of Lake Superior, and this picture sums up my love list right now. Happy weekend, everyone!

  • katie

    Woohoo! Northern Cali is gorgeous this weekend too! I love everything you post (you’re one of my can-do-no-wrong bloggers) but since you asked…i would love an increase in more personal posts. Do you have retrospections on marriage and relationships that you’d feel comfortable sharing on the blog? I’m always interested in a more journal-like quality, but I know most people shy away from that on blogs, which I can understand. Anyway, videos of product reviews and DIY and the baby waits is perfect! If you feel inspired to do more personal life pieces, I wouldn’t complain :)

    Already facebooked, but I am getting my home ready for the next chapter of my life :)

  • Rachel

    I freakin’ love your list! Here is my list from this lovely week:

    Watching my childhood friend getting married to her love, it was the most beautiful sunshine filled wedding. Proclaiming in a determined manner that I was, “not a cryer” and then tearing up in a big way multiple times at so many precious moments. Gotta love LOVE. Taking a roadtrip through Algonquin Park with my wonderful boyfriend to get to the wedding. Spending Canada Day with all my favourite people. Fireworks. My mother, the woman is a freakin’ saint. My patio garden. The National. Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros. Red Wine.

  • The Style Revivalist

    Somehow a sandy beach and cool waters almost always make for a happy weekend, especially with and for kids! We’re yachting around the Greek islands and Turkish coast so I’ll say beautiful local fruits and veggies, breezy skies, peaking waves and the beauty of the open seas makes my family’s weekend!

  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com/ Sayward Rebhal

    This was my first time in the water since moving back, and man I forgot . . . there is NOTHING like the feeling of being in the ocean. It’s the best, and pretty much how I plan to spend my whole summer. =)

    Thanks for the video input!

  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com/ Sayward Rebhal

    Interesting, thanks for the input Shango. I’ll think on this!

  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com/ Sayward Rebhal

    Ooh all my good luck thoughts for your dream job! I had some epic potatoes recently too. Why are potatoes so amazing?!

  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com/ Sayward Rebhal

    Thanks Nikki, hope you have a great weekend too!

  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com/ Sayward Rebhal

    Oh Monika I LOVE that pic! And wow, she is getting so big!!!

  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com/ Sayward Rebhal

    Hmm, interesting thoughts, thanks for the input Katie. I do have lots of thoughts on marriage and relationships . . . not sure people would like to hear what I have to say though, as my new perspective is pretty unconventional.

    In general, I have no problem sharing my insides publicly, haha. I always refer to myself as an exhibitionist introvert.

    Aside from thoughts on marriage/relationships, what kind of other personal stuff do you think would be interesting?

  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com/ Sayward Rebhal

    YAY! Exciting!!!

  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com/ Sayward Rebhal

    Look who’s talking – what a great love list! =D

  • http://bonzaiaphrodite.com/ Sayward Rebhal

    Beautiful. You must be having an amazing time!!!

  • Rebecca

    Your pictures make your beach day out look luscious! I had a similar day but with the Norway equivalent. A lake, woods, sun baked stones and cold dips.

    * swimming outside in nature, very cold but wonderful * the dark chocolate I’m eating and the anticipation of the wine in the fridge * making new connections. I only just joined a vegan Facebook group and have already met some wonderful people. * plans for new friend dosa and chai dates * being asked to make my own guide to Oslo on Stay.com * running further than I ever had and even after falling over, I got straight back up and ran some more. * making plans with my love. *the sun come out from the clouds.

  • Sonja

    I would love seeing more videos, Sayward! Recipes and tutorials (all kind of things) mabe?! Love the beach-pics!

  • Crystal Dicus

    What an excellent beach day, and congrats on the go cart win : ) I agree that videos lend themselves well to diy & instructional topics, and you can make them personal if you want since you’ll probably be able to tie in memories and stories relative to each one, which people will love. Looking forward to them!

    Love List + finding out there’s a vegan holistic doctor very close to where I live + reading book by said doctor + super-satisfying, refreshing green smoothies + a pair of white-breasted nuthatches on our big tree + visiting a local nature preserve + making healthier choices + getting {procrastinated} projects done + time with friends + nectarines & blueberries + our csa + tea & coffee + getting to meet Donovan the mini cow at our friends’ sanctuary { love }

    Mom & Waits tutorials/recipes would be amazing. I agree with others that the cocktail series would be a good route as well. Buuuttt… I have a feeling you’d most enjoy a wide open variety of videos. Personals, how-tos, answering questions, recipes, Waits, gardening, reviews, series, etc.! I’m excited!

  • Katie

    Well, full disclosure, I am newly married. I find myself waffling
    between these conventional ideals and unconventional possibilities of
    marriage. I know there isn’t a “right” answer, but I have this urge to
    peek into other smart women’s lives and see what works for them, and
    what doesn’t. What solidly personal introspection did you do while
    deciding to be married? To make a baby? To separate? To get divorced?
    Meaning, were you able to reflect solely on your needs? Or does that
    become impossible while partnered. What compromises were a good idea? Is
    there anything you would caution newly married people against? Or did
    everything work out exactly as it was “supposed” to.

    I actually
    work with domestic violence perpetrators, survivors, and their kids for
    my job, so I spend a lot of time thinking about survival in a
    relationship. It doesn’t allow for much consideration of building a
    healthy marriage or a healthy divorce.
