Although the latest comment on this first page was 2 years ago, I do still need to reach out. I agree with you mostly, reality often outweighs the ethical drive. But as I was reading your historical discussion of the sale decision, you said “the owners believed Tom’s would remain unchanged (as stipulated in the terms of the sale.) Well, corporate greed has won out again. Colgate has dropped the production of the Propolis and Myrrh with Fennel toothpaste, a product I have been using for years. The Customer Service rep told me it was a “board decision.” When I sent an email to what I thought was a Tom’s address from my google search I received a questionnaire from (Tom’s of Maine in the header) Colgate, which was asking if I had received a reply from Tom’s. I replied to them that the message was not intended for Colgate. And that I would be sure not to purchase their products again. They have totally ruined the name and reputation of Tom’s.

They produced another series called HELLO. It is sls free and is routinely part of colgate promos. But Tom of Maine isn’t. They also have a plastic free, fluoride free version in tablet form from the HELLO brand. While Tom’s is a little on the expensive side compared to their other natural series. I heard from another manufacturer, they had to put sls back into their detergent because people were complaining about no lather. And I can attest to that. My dad complained it didn’t clean well because no lather. HELLO is cheaper than what I pay for Tom’s. 7.29 for slightly less ml wise vs HELLO with slightly more ml and cheaper at 5.99 a tube. Plus often part of loyalty program promotions with colgate main line toothpaste

BTW they got colgate to make a new brand called Hello that’s offered in the section next to the regular toothpaste. Tom’s are somewhere in the health food section where people rarely venture. Hello follows the same concept Tom’s follows. And even better! They started offering plastic free toothpaste tablets!
