Hooray for setting up Waits’ room! Nina didn’t have her own room until we moved to NC when she was 17 months old – and even then, she still co-slept most of the time. She’s finally to the point where she’ll go in her room and shut the door ‘for privacy’ – which usually just means she’s going to give one of her stuffed animals a haircut, or needs some alone time. But it’s become her little sanctuary, and I’m so glad that she appreciates having her own personal space.

Love:

1. I will FINALLY wrap up my big once-a-year project THIS week! Then I can focus on low maintenance stuff until I go on vacation.

2. Knitting. I’m addicted. Every year I think I’ll get burned out around the holidays because I have so many last-minute projects, but I just get hooked all over again. I pretty much don’t stop until I’m falling asleep over my needles every night. Now I just need a money tree so that I can buy unlimited skeins of yarn.

3. Nina has been asking me to teach her how to knit – not sure if I’m ready for that, but I think I’ll teach her how to cross stitch over the holiday break, or maybe latch hook? Or do one of those potholder loom thingies. As long as I keep her away from the sewing machine, I think we’re good.

I did pretty good. I did not break my PR, but it was still a good race. It was my first race with chip, so it was a new experience. I’m happy with the results.

Wow Amberle I’m so sorry to hear about your friend! And I’m glad to hear that she’s recovering. Speaking and writing are definitely huge – that must bring so much hope!

Haha, in my email inbox I get the comments in reverse order and scroll *up* to read them, so I see the bottoms of the comments first. I scrolled up, saw “candy cane jo jos”, and thought “Meghan!” =D

As for your question, I actually think it would not be a good choice. It’s definitely geared at the experienced raw foodist.

I think any book by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau would be really good. Straightforward, familiar, and uncomplicated. Peas And Thank You is also an excellent transitional cook book.
