1.A/C- My air conditioning unit is out at the house. I'm hoteling it and appreciate the fact we have somewhere comfortable to lay our heads at night. Especially with baby girl. Which leads me to #2....

2. Watching my baby girl sleep, or eat, or smile.... pretty much her... in general.

3.My husband. Although we all get cranky with stress, he made sure we got into this hotel, has argued with the various companies and sat all day in a hot house. <3

Ok, first, I've been peeking into your life (reading your blog) for awhile now and although I don't have the same disciplined diet- I am very interested in getting my family to a healthier level of eating and you've been inspiring. My daughter is about a year behind Waits and your adventures with him (culinary and otherwise) give me great ideas.
Like I said I have been reading awhile, but haven't ever posted.
This post though- I just wanted to say thanks. I know that what goes onto someone's blog is filtered, but talking about reaching your limit and crying- I just don't think it ever gets old hearing that it happens to other people too.
Also, I just don't know how you do all this. The gardening, the books, the blog AND in a recent post you mentioned your regular job. HUH? Didn't think you had one. Mine sure cramps my schedule - haha. I guess your pretty blog photos make it look easy when really it's not, for anyone.
Bottom line, thank you.

@ kristen - Aw man, and again, thank you SO much. It just means so much to me to hear that. =)

@ charlotte - I have such big dreams of future library days! My mother was a children's librarian and I get wait to get my little guy into reading and into the library.

@ erosan - Man, you have really bad garden luck. =(

@ Monika - Back at you! I want pictures! Full scale! I'd love to see everything you're growing and what it all looks like all laid out, pleeeease?? =D

@ sara thomas - Packages in the mail is seriously one of my greatest pleasures in life, ha!

@ Kathryn - I know, isn't that picture the sweetest? I hope everything works out for you and your health, and you're able to get the treatment you need (and quickly). Also, WOW awesome co-workers!

@ Court - My own 2 cents: Last time I went raw I didn't have a dehydrator and I was like "yeah whatever dehydrator-shmidrator, you don't really need one!", which is of course true, but . . . OHMIGOD this time going raw I have a dehydrator and it is SO MUCH BETTER. Being raw this time around is easy and fun and filling and honestly, I don't feel like I'm doing anything out of the ordinary at all. By which I mean, I don't miss *anything* and I don't feel like I'm sacrificing *anything*. And I definitely did not feel this way last time, and I totally think the difference is the dehydrator. Just my input!

@ Gail Johnson - Yay! <3 you guys! =)

@ Kristin - <a href="http://bonzaiaphrodite.com/2011/05/welcome-to-my-2011-garden-stravaganza/" rel="nofollow">Ask and ye shall receive</a>! =D

@ Nicole - Actually, I totally agree with you. We've used it very infrequently, but we've definitely used traditional pain relievers. I know it's a totally personal choice and I certainly don't judge anyone. For me, there is a cut-off point where pain relief is more important than potential chemical side affects. I think that point is probably just in a different place for each parent. But anyways, yes, I agree with you!

@ Kathryn - Man, those didn't work for us!

@ Alina S. - Sounds like a great weekend. =)

@ Liz - Woo-hoo Rooster!!! That's great to hear!

Another great tip for teething is to use humphreys. I live by them. Here is the website so that you can check them out. I find mine at Wal-Mart. http://www.humphreysbaby.com/index.html

Re. the teething... I know this might be against your parenting style, but when it gets really rough, I don't hesitate to use a bit of baby Tylenol or Advil. My thoughts are that, really, a few doses, used in moderation, are harmless, and if you want to put it into perspective, you have to compare what the (unknown, if any) long term damage of a small dose of pain meds is going to cause vs. the physiological and psychological damage of sleeplessness, anxiety, pain and a cranky, impatient and overstressed family. It's also worth noting that a little bit of reprieve will enable Waits to better handle subsequent discomfort, so the effect of one small dose could carry forward by putting him (and you) in a better emotional position to handle more teething. Of course, everyone should try the non-medicinal routes first (chewing on frozen toys/cloths, frozen fruit, amber necklace, etc.), but if it comes down to watching my baby suffer from severe discomfort, losing sleep, getting more and more anxious and frustrated, I'll give her something to take the edge off so that we can all enjoy life a little more. I truly believe that the health benefits to being happy and content far outweigh any very minimal cost of a small dose of meds. Just my thoughts :) Have a great weekend.
