@ Tenise Rae - Hello, and welcome! I'm glad that you finally commented. And I'm jealous of your wine barrels - I'd love to get my hands on some of those. =) I know that lettuce works great, and also assorted herbs all mixed up together can be fun in there (be careful of mint 'cause it will take over!)

Anyway, I hope to see you around the site! Ciao!

Hidey ho there! This is my very first comment! Woo hoo! I just want to say I think you're fabulous, and I'm so glad I have stumbled upon your site. You are very inspiring. :D

I have a little garden myself. However, since I live in an apartment everything I grow must be in pots. I have some of those half wine barrels that work excellent. At least they did for my tomatoes. The corn...not so much. I knew there wasn't quite enough room in the barrel. I just thought I'd experiment this year. I gave most of the corn plants to my mother-in-law (she didn't have much room either) and I took three just to see what happened. It was fun watching it grow for sure. All three tried to produce corn but only one was actually edible. Thankfully my MILs corn produced enough to feed a small army. :D

I can't wait for next year to grow maybe some lettuce or lemon cucumbers....mmmmm.

I hope Mt. Shasta was fun and exciting. Those are my old stomping grounds (I'm now in southern Oregon.) I saw that you were headed there and thought, "That's it....I gotta be a part of this community! I'm posting a comment...now!" Hahah.
