This statement really hit home for me. My husband and I are moving cross-country next year (to–wait for it–Portland!) and one of my fears is losing all of my, well, STUFF. If we’re lucky we’ll only be able to take a small trailer of things to a tiny 350 sq ft studio apartment, and I’m terrified of parting with the various things I’ve collected since I was a child. I hope I have balls like you do and can get through it.

Also, I’ve never considered a town home. We too want to be close to the urban sprawl but I want the luxury of having land to till and a home to call my own. It was either a condo with a balcony garden or a house out in BFE. To be honest, Townhomes sound much more attractive now (:

My girlfriend and I currently live in a townhouse in Florida, and we love it! I’m glad to hear there are townhouses in Portland, as we hope to move there one day! :D

The only downside is if you get some unappealing neighbors, but even that is nowhere near as bad as an apartment complex!

my most ideal setting would be a townhomeish based commune(ity) of like minded people.
